Research & Evaluation

From concept to context.

Examine how learners understand and apply knowledge when academic concepts meet authentic systems, information, environments and projects.

The real-world learning engine

One phenomenon can open different paths through learning.

Observe

A world worth investigating.

Scientific information, geographic data, environmental observations and selected live or recorded resources provide a starting point.

Investigate

A question that fits the learner.

Age, grade, readiness, interests and goals shape the challenge, its depth and the support offered. Learners connect subjects through missions and projects.

Demonstrate

Make understanding visible.

Writing, calculation, speech, drawing, design and recordings can become portfolio evidence. Assignments, responses and teacher review remain connected.

Source information is interpreted through original Syros teaching and activities. External resources remain on their providers’ websites; availability and permitted use vary.

Explore the learner example

One subject. Many disciplines.

Illustrative investigations, adapted to a learner’s stage and learning goals.

A hurricane

Compare a storm’s reported positions, graph changes and explain a preparedness message.

Meteorology · Geography · Mathematics · Data visualization · Engineering · Public safety · Communication

An aircraft

Use published flight information to relate distance, elapsed time, wind and a route.

Physics · Geography · Engineering · Weather · Transportation systems

An animal migration

Compare dated observations, examine patterns and distinguish evidence from inference.

Biology · Ecology · Geography · Climate · Statistics · Conservation

Research & evaluation framework

Evaluation frameworks are developed according to the objectives, population, setting and research requirements of each collaboration.

Learning engagement

Participation, persistence, voluntary exploration and completion.

Knowledge & application

Understanding, problem-solving and the application of concepts in unfamiliar contexts.

Interdisciplinary reasoning

Connections across STEM, the arts, humanities and real-world systems.

Learner agency

Choice, interests, curiosity and independent exploration.

Multimodal demonstration

Writing, calculation, speech, drawing, design, video, experimentation and project artifacts.

Portfolio evidence

Dated learner work and revisions that can support a view of development over time.

These are proposed areas of inquiry, not validated measures or demonstrated program effects. Research questions, instruments, comparison methods and analysis would be agreed with the relevant collaborators.

Evidence & Insights

Verified pilot summaries, research briefs, educator findings and community reports can be published here as work is completed and approved for sharing.

No completed studies or outcome claims are presented here.

Participation, by agreement.

Ordinary learning accounts do not enroll anyone in research. A proposed study needs its own information, permissions, access boundaries and review process before participation or data sharing begins.

Institutional cohort management and research exports are being prepared for future programs. They are not currently offered as an operational research service.
