SYROS
Research & Partnerships

Knowledge, connected.

Syros STEAM Academy connects structured education, technology, live experiences and independent exploration in one real-world STEAM learning ecosystem.

From concept to context.

Learning should connect knowledge to the world in which it is used. Syros welcomes educators, researchers and organizations interested in developing and evaluating learning experiences around authentic information, environments, systems and projects.

Programs can serve children from age five, families and lifelong learners, or a defined population within a specific collaboration.

Research & Evaluation

Ways to work together

Begin with a question, a setting or a community.

Universities & Researchers

Develop a focused question, a suitable study design and an agreed approach to evaluation.

Possible areas of collaboration

Learning sciences · STEM education · Educational technology · AI-supported learning · Assessment · Engagement · Interdisciplinary learning · Human–computer interaction · Informal learning · Longitudinal studies

Discuss Research Collaboration

Schools & Districts

Explore a pilot, curriculum supplement or enrichment program that fits your learners and setting.

Possible areas of collaboration

Project-based STEM · After-school programs · Virtual learning · STEM challenges · Workforce exposure · Educator collaboration · Program evaluation

Discuss Institutional Partnership

Areas of inquiry

Connected fields for learning and program design. The depth and content of each collaboration are agreed individually.

Earth & EnvironmentWeather, climate, geology, oceans, ecosystems and biodiversity.

Water and soil measurement, conservation, agriculture, food systems, citizen science, sustainability and Earth observation.

Life & Health SciencesBiology, anatomy, physiology and the science of living systems.

Neuroscience, biomechanics, nutrition science, microbiology, genetics, biomedical engineering, public health and exercise science. Educational inquiry; no diagnosis, treatment or clinical training.

Engineering & TechnologyDesign, robotics, computing and the systems people build.

Manufacturing, infrastructure, scientific investigation and engineering challenges. Technical partners may contribute expertise, resources or a carefully scoped problem.

Space & AviationAstronomy, satellites, aerospace, flight and navigation.

Space science, orbital systems, engineering, Earth observation and remote sensing. Interpret a source’s date, units and measurement limits.

Mathematics & DataMeasurement, quantitative reasoning, statistics and modeling.

Interpret data, compare representations, examine uncertainty and explain what a calculation means in context.

Arts, Design & CultureVisual art, architecture, music and cultural inquiry.

Use observation, creative design, interpretation and revision to make ideas visible, audible or tangible.

Human Systems & SocietyEconomics, communities, geography, communication and civics.

Investigate how human decisions, institutions and environments interact. Compare sources and consider different perspectives.

Pilot programs

A clear question.
A considered evaluation.

Explore six-, eight- or twelve-week programs, or a semester-based collaboration. Scope, support and evaluation are agreed before a pilot begins.
